Seneca High School had only been in existence for a few years when the first class graduated in the spring of 1961. It was a very different world then. Our country was entrenched in a conflict called Vietnam and every male student had to enlist in the draft on their 18th birthday. It was on everyone’s mind. The Soviets built a wall dividing East and West Berlin. The “Freedom Riders” traveled throughout the South to promote integration and many were assaulted and beaten. Soviet cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin became the first human in space during a single-orbit flight. Ty Cobb died. Moon River was at the top of the charts and everybody watched The Dick Van Dyke Show on TV. Barbie got a new boyfriend, Ken.*
But there are things that never seem to change. The love of Seneca High School graduates toward their alma mater has not changed over the years. As we see the years go by, we will also see an ever-expanding list of members in the 50-Year Club. Be sure to get to know your fellow club-members and create a whole new set of memories!
